Doncaster Case

Asked if the Prime Minister thought that the events in Edlington had shown that Britain was broken, the PMS said it would not be appropriate to comment on the case while it was ongoing. The Prime Minister continued to believe that no child should be failed by the services that were supposed to protect them.
Put that there had been some comment that we were in the midst of a social recession as well as an economic recession, the PMS said a recession had both social and economic effects. A lot of what the Government had been doing was to help people back to work, to help businesses to grow, with the net effect being the country coming out of recession at the right time.
