Asked if the Prime Minister was concerned about the increase in the number of people who were economically inactive, the PMS said that the Prime Minister was pleased to see that there were positive figures today; unemployment fell overall by seven thousand and the number of young people on Job Seeker’s Allowance also fell. However, there was still more that needed to be done across the piece and the Prime Minister felt that the 5 million investment in getting people back to work was having an impact, which was why we had today announced a further six thousand youth jobs as part of the Future Jobs Fund.
