Asked if the VAT on any Haiti charity single would be waived, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) told the assembled press that it would be waived; the VAT would be charged and then the Government would make a donation to compensate for the VAT.
Asked if there was any more news on British people in Haiti, the PMS said that so far we had accounted for sixty people. We were coordinating with the US, Canadian and EU partners.
