Put that there were a number of reports coming out soon about the behaviour of the banks in the run up to the end of 2008 and asked if the Prime Minister anticipated any prosecutions, the PMS said that prosecutions were not a matter for the Prime Minister. There were lessons to be learnt from the banking crisis and the Prime Minister would wish to see these lessons taken into account.

Asked if there had been any concerns from civil servants at the Treasury over figures used at a party political event this morning, the PMS said that there were strong guidelines on the preparation of party political material and the information that could be provided by civil servants would apply to any political party, irrespective of whether or not they were the governing party.
