Put that there had been complaints in one of the papers today about the cost of regional Cabinet meetings and asked if the Prime Minister was confident that they were a good use of public money, the PMS said that the Prime Minister and the Cabinet believed that this was an extremely good way of getting out of London and meeting local people and local businesses. We had been doing them for at least a year and the intention was to get around the whole country and the fact that they happened around the country sent a strong message that Government was not purely London-centric.
