Meetings/Prime Minister’s mood

Asked if the Prime Minister had cancelled any meetings today, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said that today’s scheduled visit had been cancelled after advice, but no other meetings had been cancelled. The Prime Minister was relaxed and getting on with the job. He had a busy schedule and was focussed on the key priorities.

Asked if the Prime Minister had considered resigning, the PMS said that the Prime Minister was focussed on his role as Prime Minister; he had the Growth Strategy announcement to look forward to tomorrow and was focussed on the job at hand.

Asked if all members of Government were currently still in post, the PMS said yes.

Asked why the Prime Minister spent over two hours in the House of Commons today and if he had been meeting with Cabinet members, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had a Privy Council terms meeting on Yemen with the leaders of the main opposition parties and had a Parliamentary Committee meeting.

Asked if the meeting with the leaders of the main opposition parties had taken place in the Prime Minister’s office and how long it lasted, the PMS said that it took place in the Prime Minister’s office and it lasted around fifteen minutes.

Put that the two meetings mentioned only took up about forty minutes of the Prime Minister’s time and that he must have been doing something else after PMQs, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had lots of things he did on a weekly basis post-PMQs.

Asked if the Prime Minister was one hundred per cent convinced that he’d be in post come the General Election, the PMS said that the Prime Minister was relaxed and focussed on the job at hand.

Asked if the Prime Minister had spoken to the Chancellor since PMQs, the PMS said not that he was aware that they had but they were interacting during PMQs.
