Asked if the Prime Minister was aware of loans paid to Lloyds and HBOS by the Bank of England, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had been aware of the situation. It was a very important decision made by the Bank of England under the auspices of them being the lenders of last resort. The Chancellor had re-emphasised today that in the HBOS prospectus it was clearly set out that this loan had been made.
