OFSTED Report
« Supreme Court Judgement | Back to most recent briefing | Iraq Inquiry »
Asked for a response to the Ofsted Report that had said that one in three schools was not good enough, the PMS said that the Government took these reports very seriously as high quality, independent inspection was vital to ensuring children got the best quality service. Where there was under-performance, we had to take swift action.
The PMS said that Ofsted had raised the bar and that’s what was needed in education. A large majority of councils did provide good childrens services and the Government was proud of the fact that we now had 92% of schools judged good or better on behaviour, the highest number of good and outstanding schools at 69% and the lowest ever number of inadequate schools. The PMS said there was always more to be done and the Government would look at the report and see where improvements could be made.
