Asked if the Prime Minister had a reaction to the timing and nature of the jobs figures released today, the PMS said that on timing, it was entirely a matter for the ONS and had nothing to do with the Government. In terms of reaction, the PMS said that clearly these were disappointing figures that did demonstrate the impact that the global recession was having on communities across the country.
This was why in last month’s Budget we set aside a further 3 billion to invest in peoples futures and create more opportunities to help them get back to work.
