A-levels

Put that the fact that Ed Balls was not around this week to talk about A-level results and that the Chancellor was not in London for the whole week meant that there was a part-time Ministerial rota over the summer, the PMS said that he thoroughly disagreed. It was entirely right that Iain Wright and David Lammy were the Ministers to respond to the A-level results. Alastair Darling was the Minister handling day-to-day coordination, as other Ministers had, whilst the Prime Minister was in his constituency. The Prime Minister remained in charge and the Chancellor was kept in touch with developments.

Put that it was unusual that the Education Secretary of State would be on holiday for the A-level results, the PMS said that he was not going to get into where Ed Balls was or otherwise; it was best to speak to the department.
