Asked what the discussion with the Lebanese President was likely to entail, the PMS said likely issues would be regional issues and the Middle East peace process.
Asked whether it was a good use of taxpayer’s money to host a visit by the Lebanese President and whose interests were served by this, the PMS replied that Lebanon was an important country in the region and one that the UK had a long-standing, good relationship with, which it was important to maintain. Asked about any commercial issues which would be considered, the PMS replied the Government had a whole range of bilateral issues to discuss, including commercial issues and security issues, reflecting the important bilateral relationship between the two.
