Asked if the Prime Minister had full confidence in Jacqui Smith and Hazel Blears, the PMS said yes.
Asked why the Prime Minister had met with Turkish and Greek Cypriots recently, the PMS said that the Prime Minister liked to keep in contact with all community groups across the country. He met the Turkish Cypriot community recently and he was meeting the Greek Cypriot community today; both the Turkish and Greek Cypriot communities made a substantial contribution to British society and to the British economy. At the Greek Cypriot event this evening the Prime Minister would underline his commitment to achieve a settlement of the Cyprus dispute, and would encourage the British Greek Cypriot community to use their influence to support the ongoing peace negotiations.
