« Economy | Back to most recent briefing | President Sarkozy »
The Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) began by updating the press on the Prime Minister s contacts with his international counterparts. Over the past few days he had spoken to Prime Minister Singh of India, President Lula of Brazil and he had also spoken to the Managing Director of the IMF and the Prime Minister of Hungary. The Prime Minister spoke to President Sarkozy yesterday and they agreed that it would be sensible for them to meet some time soon.
Asked if the Prime Minister was helping out in any way on some of the negotiations Hungary was having with the IMF, the PMS said that the Prime Minister was certainly of the view that it was important that countries like Hungary did engage with the IMF and he welcomed the fact that this had been happening.
