Police Ombudsman’s Report, Northern Ireland

The Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman (PMOS) told journalists that this was a deeply disturbing report about events which were totally wrong and which should never have happened. The fact that they did was a matter for profound regret and the Prime Minister shared that regret. This was also a report about the past, and what was important now was that under the new structures introduced along with the formation of the Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI), these events could not happen now. What mattered at this stage was the whole community supported that process of transformation.

Asked if the Prime Minister was satisfied that Special Branch were operating on their own and not with Ministerial agreement, the PMOS said that this was a report into the police operation, and he did not want to go into details because it had not yet been formally published. This was, however, related to the police and it did cover the police.

Asked if the Prime Minister was shocked that this had happened on his "watch" and it was not attributable to older administrations, the PMOS said that it was wrong fullstop, no matter when it happened. What was important was that there was now a mechanism that was in place in the Police Ombudsman’s office to investigate matters, and to come to findings about these matters. Importantly, there was also now a mechanism in place to stop this sort of thing happening, as there was now an oversight facility that was not there before, including the policing board. The important things was that all members of the community went onto those boards so that the scrutiny was from the community itself. That again was something that was not there in the past.

  1. The system is disgusting, i am a hardworking (never been out of work in my life) kind and loving person. i watched as i child my mother being assaulted by my father, waiting at home wondering whether my dad was dead or alive as he was a well known police officer (james white DOB 24.05.53, address 59a connor rd, parkgate. northern ireland bt390ea) who was cheating on my mother with one of her old friends. (which happpened after my mother had already forgiven my father for cheating with her best friend. I then found a very good friend who is a catholic, at that point my father alienated me for that reason, even though she has always been there for me when nobody else was. I made a mistake, i assaulted my father (2 punches) which i am guilty of. It took the police 8 months to arrest me, after thretening me and intimidating me. (they did not arrest me i handed myself myself in) I was conveniently given a solicitor that happened to be in the police station at three oclock in the morning before I had to be in court. I have been in Maghaberry prison twice because of this incident, been beaten, threatened, abused, been bailed under ridiculous conditions including 2000\xA3 cash, (my mum paid that) signed for another 950\xA3 myself and was in the process of having my mum pay another 2000\xA3 when the governer of the prison realised what was happening and let my mum away without paying money she does not have. I have since been stopped from working (1 bail condition concerned not leaving the country), which means i can’t work, and I can’t be with my girlfriend, who lives overseas, the two most important things in my life have been taken away from me. I am also suffering from a mental illness over this, and i am not looking for money, or any materialistic things i just want justice in this country. in my opinion this system is corrupt, injust and being run by people who are not capable of making decisions, apart from their own interests, which involves putting a hard working, far from perfect(who is?)behind bars…………. thats what they think. even though I am in pieces and losing my mind, i will win, for the benefit of every person like myself in this country.

There is only one person in this world who can make decisions and it is god, and god will defeat anyone who is does not follow his rules, but he forgives certain mistakes.

Please more people like me stand up for humanity be strong and the people will win
