David Blunkett/Budd Report

Asked if David Blunkett was going to be exonerated, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman (PMOS) said that it would be better to wait for the Budd Report to be published. The PMOS added that he had dealt with what the Prime Minister had said in a press conference, as had the Prime Minister, by saying that there cannot be any blurring between public and private lives.

Asked if the Prime Minister still accepted that David Blunkett was a "man of great integrity and honesty" the PMOS said the Prime Minister still stood by that.

Asked if the Budd report would be published tomorrow, the PMOS said he had a strong hunch that it would be.

Asked if the government was disappointed that the Budd Report would not be published before the House rose for the Christmas recess, the PMOS replied that he was not sure that was the case. The House would sit until tomorrow afternoon.
