Budget

Asked how the Budget was looking, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister had said that the Chancellor would announce at the right time the timing of the Budget if there was to be one before the election.

Asked if the normal four week notice period would be given, the PMS replied that he was not aware of such a convention but he would check.

Put that the Chancellor in an interview had said that he hoped there would be a Budget and could the PMS confirm that there would be, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister had said that he expected there to be a Budget before the next election.
