Asked if the Prime Minister and the Chancellor discussed the Chancellor’s interview this morning, the PMS said he did not know. The PMS said they may well have discussed possible questions on the economy at PMQs. Put that the interview must have come up and would he characterise the meeting between the two as cordial, the PMS said the meeting, as always, was cordial.
Asked how long the meeting was, the PMS said it was relatively brief. Asked if the meeting had been scheduled before last nights interview, the PMS replied that No10 was a very fast moving environment; it was not one of their regular bilaterals.
Asked whether Downing Street had asked Damian McBride to put out his statement, the PMS said no, they had not.
