Asked if the Prime Minister would debate with Alex Salmond in the future head-to-head broadcasts, the PMS said that discussions on the terms of the televised debates were currently being worked out.

Asked when it was decided that there would be a statement from Bob Ainsworth on the Gray report, the PMS said that it was decided last week; it was a statement about an important review, which was being carefully considered by Lord Drayson and would inform both the Strategic Defence Review and any White Paper going forward.

Asked if the Prime Minister would be sending his congratulations to the gymnast Beth Tweddle on her World Gymnastic Championship gold medal, the PMS said that he would be.

Asked what the Prime Minister thought about the goal scored during the Sunderland v Liverpool match when the football deflected off a beach ball into the goal, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had not seen the incident but believed that the referee s decision should always be final.
