Put that the appointment of a Cabinet Office official, who had served both Tony Blair and the Prime Minister, to write the report for the Iraq inquiry meant that the inquiry was an establishment stitch-up, the PMS said that Sir John Chilcot would lead the inquiry and we were confident that it would be an independent and thorough report.
