Chirac/Merger Proposal

Asked if the Prime Minister had written to President Chirac about the proposed merger between EADS and Thales, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman (PMOS) replied that he had not.

Asked if Britain had any concerns about the proposal, the PMOS said that as it was a commercial proposal, it would be subject to the usual regulatory considerations in the UK and in Europe, and would therefore be inappropriate for him to respond.
