Northern Ireland Meetings

Asked for some more details about the meeting the Prime Minister would be having tomorrow with Dr. Ian Paisley, the PMOS said it would be sometime in the morning, but he had nothing further to add about the Northern Irelands talks at the moment, on the basis that the least said, the better.

David Blunkett

Asked if Alan Budd was going to head the Blunkett Review, the Prime Minister's Official Spokesman (PMOS) said that it was true, and it had just been announced.

Equatorial Guinea

Asked if the UK had a duty under international law to inform the Equatorial Guinea Government about what it knew about the suspected coup, the PMOS replied that the matter had already been dealt with by the FCO. The FCO had indicated that the information they had did not suggest that there was any verifiable evidence that was different to speculation there had been in the past.
