Asked if the Prime Minister agreed with his Africa Minister that now was not the time to lift sanctions on Zimbabwe and if the subject of sanctions would be discussed when the Prime Minister met Morgan Tsvangirai next week, the PMS said that the Prime Minister agreed with his Africa Minister but we were not going to speculate on what might be discussed next week.
Asked if now was the time to start development aid to Zimbabwe, the PMS said that that was a complex decision, which we needed to take in consultation with the Department for International Development and the donor community.
