Asked about the Prime Minister s meeting with Pascal Lamy, the Prime Minister s Spokesman (PMS) said that the Prime Minister and Pascal Lamy had met many times before and that they knew each other very well. Mr Lamy was in London and it was a good opportunity for a discussion on the status of the world trade talks.
Asked where we were in regards to the world trade talks, the PMS said that it was the Prime Minister s view that we needed to continue to push for progress on the world trade talks; a view that Mr Lamy shared.
Asked if the Prime Minister had any thoughts about the re-election of Mr Lamy as the Director General of the World Trade Organisation, the PMS said that that wasn t something he would want to comment on specifically, except to say that the Prime Minister thought that Mr Lamy was doing a very good job.
