Vehicle Excise Duty
« Knife Crime | Back to most recent briefing | Misc »
Asked if people should take the Prime Minister’s remarks on vehicle excise duty to mean there was no possibility of changing the back-dating proposals, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) told the assembled press that he thought the Prime Minister’s words spoke for themselves and he would leave other people to do the interpreting.
Asked if it was wrong to think that the Prime Minister had closed the door to a rethink on the matter, the PMS reiterated that tax decisions and announcements were a matter for the Chancellor. The Government had set out its position very clearly in the Budget and the Prime Minister set out his defence of that position today.
