Northern Ireland

Asked if there would be any further talks taking place on Northern Ireland, the PMS said that he did not have that much to add to what he had said that morning. The Prime Minister did meet Gerry Adams earlier today but he was not in a position to get into specifics at this point. The Prime Minister would have further conversations over the course of the next 24 hours. The Government’s general position was that it was doing everything possible in order to facilitate a successful resolution to the issues surrounding the nomination of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister and it was our assessment that all of the parties involved were also committed to finding a successful resolution to this.
