Citizenship

Asked what particular aspects of Citizenship the Home Secretary would mention, the PMS said there would be a Green Paper and a statement to the House tomorrow. We had had the Goldsmith Review looking at some of the issues and the Government was also about to introduce the points-based system on migration that addressed some general issues as well. In advance of the statement tomorrow, there was not much more the PMS could say. Asked if the Goldsmith Review had been published, the PMS said that it would be published within the next few weeks. Asked what the Goldsmith Review had looked at, the PMS replied that it had looked into issues surrounding citizenship.
Asked if the review would address issues such as changing the National Anthem, the PMS said it was not really going to touch on such issues.
