Asked if the Prime Minister had any thoughts on George Osborne’s comments that the recession had been worse than anticipated, the PMS replied that the Chancellor had made clear in the Budget his forecast and he would be renewing that as part of the Pre-Budget Report. The Chancellor had made it clear that he was looking forward to the economy growing towards the end of the year.
Put that the Chancellor did not have a very good track-record on forecasting, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had full confidence in the Chancellor.
