Hizb ut-Tahrir

Asked if the Prime Minister was satisfied that no public money went to schools linked to Hizb ut-Tahrir, the PMS said that the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families had made it clear what the situation was in regards to the two schools mentioned. Both the Secretary of State and the Prime Minister had written to their opposite numbers and set the record straight in terms of the two schools.

This included the fact that the two schools were inspected, the fact that investigations were held by the local authority in one of the schools and the fact that the allegations were unfounded. The Prime Minister was confident that the schools and the local authorities had acted in an appropriate way.

Put that David Cameron had written a letter to the Prime Minister asking whether he thought funding should be resumed for the school in Harringey, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had seen the letter and was considering it.
