Afghanistan

The PMS said that at Cabinet the Prime Minister remained very focused on Afghanistan and on making the case for the campaign. He said that there may be further interventions from the Prime Minister over the next few days as he continues to ensure that people have a full understanding of what we are seeking to achieve.
Asked for clarity on what these interventions might be, he said that we were expecting an announcement from the US imminently on troop numbers and that it was possible that the Prime Minister may make another speech. He also reminded the assembled press that there were ongoing discussions on a London Conference early next year. The Prime Minister is committed to ensuring that he sets out wherever possible the case for the allies in Afghanistan.
