MOD Bonuses
« Immigration | Back to most recent briefing | Rupert Mordoch »
Asked what the Prime Minister’s reaction was to anger from soldiers’ families regarding bonuses that the MOD had paid some Civil Service staff, the PMS said that the Prime Minister felt the loss of every person who died in conflict in Afghanistan and his condolences were always with the families of those affected. The MOD position was that these pay awards were met from within the MOD salary budget; they had no impact on the operation or equipment budget and any suggestion that this had affected defence spending was untrue. We were committed to providing the frontline with the necessary resources.
