Childcare Vouchers
« Letters to Bereaved Familes/Media Coverage | Back to most recent briefing | Misc »
Asked if the Prime Minister was minded to change his decision on childcare vouchers given the opposition from some MPs, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said that the Government remained committed to supporting hardworking families with children who had childcare costs, through initiatives including tax credits and the expansion of nursery places. We had no intention of taking vouchers away from parents who currently received them.
Put that this was simply a cut dressed up as a redistribution, the PMS said that was not the case; this was a very important Government initiative and the idea that we would take childcare vouchers away from those who currently received them was incorrect.
