Media

Asked whether the Prime Minister would support a review on the reporting of national security issues by the media, the PMS replied that people should wait for the ISC report and we would give a reaction then.

Asked whether the Prime Minister had a view on Paul Dacre s comments this morning that we were bringing in a privacy law by the back door, the PMS said that Mr Dacre s speech was an interesting and useful contribution to the debate. Any decision taken by a judge, which was what Mr Dacre was referring to, was being take by an independent judge and of course there was a balance that needed to be struck between the right to privacy and the right of freedom of expression.
