The Leader was asked, in view of the report published by Sir Hayden Phillips earlier today, if he could give any sense of the prospect of cross-party agreement. He said he did not know, but he hoped that would be possible. He referred to the attitude adopted by the Opposition. Asked what would be the main topic at the EU summit, the PMOS said the main subjects would be energy, inline with our policy review process - not just climate change aspect of energy but the implications of energy security for Europe as a whole. This was a subject which was at the top for many European leaders agenda these days. Darfur would also be discussed. The leaders would also have dinner with President Putin.
