Baroness Thatcher is an iconic figure who lead this country to think of itself as "Great" Britain once again. She should have a state funeral when the time comes. We will wait a long time to see another leader of the same stature.

Comment by Fraser Chamberlain — 25 Nov 2006 on 5:36 pm | LinkBullshit! She was a stooge for the financial oligarchy, who presided over the selling-off of the assets of this country to private individuals who are now responsible for taxing us to the hilt. She should be slung in a hole in the ground and forgotten about – or more preferably burned with a big celebration for the working people of the country.
You’re right about one thing though – we will wait a long time to see another leader like her. But only because we have no more assets left to sell!
Comment by SmokeNMirrors — 25 Nov 2006 on 6:27 pm | LinkWhy would you ask the country to pay for her funeral, when she was the creator of the what’s in it for me generation.
Comment by Jim Price — 18 Jul 2008 on 3:10 pm | LinkShe was the reason I and my family left the UK to live in Canada.
After seeing the picture of Baroness Thatcher in todays paper along with her daughter Carol, I wanted to say that this lady was one of a kind and more is the pity we do not have more like her. I met her on one occasion and it will always be remembered, she put a lot of people half her age to shame with her stamina. She put the Great in to Britain and in my mind goes hand in hand with Sir Winston Churchill. She should most certainly be given a state funeral when the time comes, in the meantime, God Bless her.
Comment by Valerie Kew — 25 Aug 2008 on 4:14 pm | Linkmargret thatcher was a brilliant leader, she deserves a state funeral, the idiots who didn’t like her are the ones who are claiming everything of the state, sponging all the benefits they can, thatcher put a stop to their laziness, this is why they hated her
