Asked where the meetings would be based, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said she did not know. Advertisements for committee members would be advertised soon.
Asked how the chairmen had been chosen, the PMS said the posts had been advertised in the national media. Individuals applied to chair the committees and selection had taken place under the Nolan principles. The PMS said people applied under the Nolan procedures.
Asked if the chairmen’s posts would be a net cost to the tax payer, as civil servants had been chairmen in the past, the PMS said the chairmen were not being paid. Some travel expenses may be paid. The PMS said the purpose of the new arrangements was to make the Honours system more transparent.
