Iraq inquiry

Asked about the reports over the weekend and whether the Prime Minister had misled the public over when planning for the Iraq War had actually begun, the PMS replied that with the Chilcott Inquiry about to begin tomorrow it would not be appropriate to make any comment other than to remind people that the Prime Minister established it as an independent inquiry. The Prime Minister was pleased that it was going ahead and there would be plenty of opportunity for people to watch proceedings as it was being held in public.

Asked if the Prime Minister expected to be called in, the PMS said that if he was to be called then of course he would cooperate fully as people would expect.
