Asked whether Jacqui Smith had spoken about immigration, the PMS repeated that she had spoken about knife crime. Asked if the Prime Minister had full confidence in the Immigration Minister and whether the Government s immigration policy was causing division, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister did have full confidence in the Immigration Minister. The PMS referred people to what the Immigration Minister himself had said yesterday, where he was simply pointing out that his comments put the current successes into historical perspective.
The PMS added that the Immigration Minister was also making it clear why we had brought in so many of the changes that this Government had brought in.
