Asked if the Prime Minister had any comment on the situation in Sri Lanka, the PMS replied that the Prime Minister did speak to President Rajapaksa this afternoon. The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of minimising further suffering. He sought and received assurances that the UN and other international agencies would have the access they needed to those affected and displaced by the conflict and the Prime Minister also confirmed an additional 5million of humanitarian assistance from the British Government.
