House of Lords Reform

Asked if the honour of a life peerage would still exist after 2015 once 80% of the members of the House of Lords were elected, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said that the proposals in the House of Lords Reform Bill were about creating a majority elected second chamber rather than changing the honours system.

Asked if there would still be a three line whip on the bill, the PMS said that this was a Government bill and would be whipped accordingly.
