Morning press briefing for 13 October 2011

Thursday 13 October 2011

Press briefing from the Prime Minister’s spokesperson on: Sir Gus O’Donnell’s report, Liam Fox, Banks.

Sir Gus O’Donnell’s report

Asked if Sir Gus O’Donnell’s report would be published tomorrow, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said not to expect it tomorrow.

Liam Fox

Asked if it would be legitimate to know the sources of funding for Mr Werritty’s travels, the PMS said that all the remaining questions were being addressed by the Cabinet Secretary.

Asked if the Prime Minister had spoken to the Defence Secretary in the past couple of days, the PMS said that the Prime Minister had been in Scotland and Wales today. Yesterday he was in the House for most of the day. He saw Gus O’Donnell and Liam Fox at Cabinet on Tuesday.

Asked about the suggestion that Liam Fox took on another unofficial adviser (Graham Livesey) and would it be looked into, the PMS said he was not an unofficial adviser, he was a member of the Secretary of State’s Office. It was quite normal for ministers to have a role in choosing staff for their private offices.

Asked if the Chancellor or Prime Minister had been perturbed by the down grading of Lloyds Bank, the PMS said the HM Treasury had put out a statement.
