IPSA

Asked if the Prime Minister was disappointed that family members could be employed by MPs, the PMS said, the key point was that MPs would only be allowed to employ one family member subject to safeguards. The PMS added, one of the Prime Minister’s views was of the importance of full transparency, which ran through all the recommendations.

Asked if the Prime Minister would have preferred to see a total ban in light of comments from John Bercow, the PMS said, the most important thing was that the new system was now in place. He added that, the proposals had been accepted in full.

Asked if the Prime Minister was in favour of nepotism, the PMS said, the Prime Minister’s view was that the key underpinning of any new system was complete and utter transparency.
