EU Summit

Asked if the Prime Minister will be pushing for a common European position on a global tax on banks, the PMS said, the Prime Minister is the vanguard of promoting the idea. The PMS went on to say, he didn’t think it would be one of the major items of discussion in Brussels but that the Prime Minister and the Chancellor had already made clear the solution needs to be international.

Asked what the Prime Minister’s approach to Greece was, the PMS said, the Prime Minister would want to help resolve the situation but not in terms of UK government support.

Asked if this was more of an issue for the IMF, the PMS said, this was a matter for the Eurozone first and foremost.

Asked if the Prime Minister was ruling out any British money in way of support, the PMS said, this was a Eurozone matter and that the Eurozone should come together to resolve it.
