Asked for an explanation of where the apology came from, the PMS said it was announced over the Christmas period by Prime Minster Rudd in Australia and following consultation with families and their representatives that we would be doing the same thing here.
Asked if the contrition would go beyond just an overall apology and would the families get compensation, the PMS said there would be a support fund.
