Asked about the Sunday Times story about a group of economists calling for tougher measures in regard to the UK’s deficit, the PMS replied that the Chancellor was very clear on this in his interview this morning. The Government had a commitment to reducing the Budget deficit over four years. It would be a mistake to cut support to the economy while it was still recovering.
