Put that the Permanent Secretary at DCLG had asked for written details of the planned unitary councils in Exeter and Norwich from the Communities Secretary John Denham because he was so troubled by the financial implications and was the Prime Minister aware of this, the PMS said that he was aware of the subject but not familiar with the detail. The PMS added that he would check if there was anything else he could say on the matter from a No10 perspective.
