Peter Robinson

Asked if there was any response to the news that Peter Robinson would be stepping down, the Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) told the assembled press that we were aware that Peter Robinson was currently making a statement so it wouldn’t be appropriate to comment at this stage. We were monitoring events and remained closely involved.

Asked if the Prime Minister thought that this would have any impact on the devolution process, the PMS replied that the Government was totally focussed on completing devolution with the transfer of policing and justice powers from London to Belfast and that was the Government’s overriding objective.
