Cabinet

The Prime Minister’s Spokesman (PMS) said that Andy Burnham did a presentation at Cabinet this morning on the NHS vision for the future; a White Paper on the health service was due to be published soon. Yvette Cooper did a presentation on the Back to Work White Paper. One of the big challenges we faced was youth unemployment; there was evidence that youth unemployment could continue to increase at the end of a recession, which was why the Government was focused on more help for young people.

Rosie Winterton briefed the Cabinet on flood recovery; a new footbridge had been opened yesterday and the cleanup was going well.

Asked if they discussed electoral reform at Cabinet, the PMS said no.
