Supreme Court Judgement

Asked if the Prime Minister was happy with the decision reached, especially as it would enable banks to pay back debts to the Exchequer quicker, the PMS said he would not necessarily make that connection. This was a class action and it was for the OFT to decide where they went from here.

On one level, it was disappointing that the decision had not gone the way of customers, but the Government had a number of plans that would be enacted to make sure the banks continued to provide a fair service and fair charging of their customers. There would be measures available to make sure consumers got a fair deal.
