MPs’ expenses

Asked about what the Prime Minister thought about the revelations concerning Andrew Dismore’s “switching” of homes, the PMS said that the most important thing for the Prime Minister was that the old discredited expenses system was put to bed once and for all and we moved forward as quickly as possible with a new expenses system.

Asked if Andrew Dismore was a suitable person to be involved in that process, the PMS said that he would not comment on behalf of the Prime Minister on individuals; the system had affected the reputation of Parliament and the House of Commons and the sooner we moved on the better.
