Misc

Asked about whether the Floods and Water Management Bill would be in the Queen’s Speech, the PMS replied that we would have to wait and see on Wednesday. Asked about suggestions that the Queen’s speech should be cancelled so that parliament could concentrate on proposals or legislation already underway, the PMS said that it would be a very focussed programme; the Government still had a full agenda and any bills that do come forward would be short and focussed. Three bills are being carried over from the current session and the Government believed that there was important work that also needed to be done in other areas.
